The Big Bang "created" the universe, or so it is said to. Einstein realized that his equations said that the universe must be either expanding or contracting, but it could not be standing still, because if it were then gravity would attract all the galaxies towards one another . This started his theory.

Q: How were gender and class roles defined during this time frame?

Albert Einstein: Most the people(mostly men) went into the wars during this time frame. The women worked in the back; taking care of injured soldiers. They did this, or they stayed home and took care of the families and cleaned the house. Everybody in Germany wanted to be in the science field, but this was hard because of the wars themselves. This is also one reason I studied on my own to finish my work and theories.
Q: What were the basic demographics of the country during the time your were working?

Albert Einstein: Millions died during WWI and it was seen as the deadliest battle of them all. But, when Hitler came and WWII started to grow, deaths went through almost the hundred millions. This was because so many Jewish and other racial and cultural differences lived in Germany. This also a reason I fled to America before the death of the Jewish started. I was a Jew myself. I continued my work in America.
Q: What artists, musicians, and writers were working at the same time and in the same country as you?

Albert Einstein: Military music was famous during my era in WWI and WWII. Other than that, old time music was played and listened to. The "art" was propaganda pictures to get guys to join the war.
Q: What major cultural, economic, and political situations were taking places at the time of your work?

Albert Einstein: World War I had a strong effect on me. While the rest of Germany supported the army, I felt the war was unnecessary, and disgusting. The new weapons of war, which attempted to mass slaughter people, caused me to devote much of my life toward creating peace. Toward the end of the war I joined a political party that worked to end the war and the government.
Q: How did your ideas fit with or differ from the beliefs at the time?

Albert Einsten: Some of my scientific ideas related to my beliefs and somewhat interferred with them. Some of my ideas proved what some of the subjects on the Bible said, wrong. I was started to be perceived as a traitor to what the Bible said.
Q: What were the prevalent philosophical and/or religious beliefs at the time?

Albert Einstein: The beliefs at the time and where I lived that were prevalent were Jewish-Christian beliefs which were based on the Bible. Later in my life I started to doubt the Bible. But, that is a different subject.
Q: What were your limitations as a scientist or as a person?

Albert Einstein: Alot of my life I lived in Germany, in which I was a Jewish person. This was not good back in my time because it was when Germany was turning in Nazi Germany(which were against Jewish and other cultures). This caused me to take a little break from science and flee from Germany before is was too late.
Another limitation for me was when I studied alot of the Space Science field. There were too many dangers of space explorations back then, so I couldn't have studied space as much as I would of liked.
Q: What were your major accomplishments, the methodologies used and principals that were upheld?

Albert Einstein: Of course, My accomplishments were related to science. They were related to Time, Light, Gravity and Energy.

Light - I came up with the special theory of relativity, which stated that light is constant. I also proved that it is impossible to travel faster than light. No matter what, light always goes the same speed.

Time - This theory states that time is not constant as is light, the faster one goes, the slower time is, even though that person does not feel it as being different. This is an utmost important matter when dealing with space travel.

Gravity - I added to Newton’s theory of gravitational pull, stating that not only does the apple fall to the ground because of gravity, but earth’s orbit attracts asteroids because of the "dent" the earth makes in the layer of space. This giving us the power to our advantage as a "parking space" for satellites in our orbit to use for our technological advantages. It has also been used to get men to and from the moon.

Energy - Most everyone has heard of E=MC2, This is the famous equation that shows the relationship between Energy and Mass. It was once thought that Energy and mass were different, however my theory states that Energy and Mass are different forms of the same thing. Not only that Mass and Energy can be destroyed and changed into one another.

These were just some of my accomplishments in science.
Q: What was the state of knowledge that existed in the areas of study when you entered the science field?

Albert Einstein: I got a degree in physics after I graduated from college. All of the people at the school that were like me were concentrating on disproving old theories related to physics and other fields of science. Physics were mostly focused on throughout the beginning of me entering the science field.
Q: What events early in your life might indicate or have sparked and interest in science?

Albert: In Germany, science was "the thing" or the fad. When I was a young boy my father showed me several science related inventions and I got a job at Bern Patent Office which obtained many inventions. This sparked my interest in science.
Nothing is science without math. What interested me in math was my old childhood friend showing me math textbooks that I studied everyday.

Albert Einstein was born in Germany. He was also Jewish. This made life hard for him around the 1940's. He had to do something before he was captured by the Nazis. So Albert escaped to America. His knowledge spread across the US once he arrived. Ha is known as the smartest man alive.
